Your Weekly Digest of Sustainability in the Food Industry

Who are we?

Hey there, I’m Sam and I’m a co-founder of FoodCLUB, a student-powered mobile app that turns you into a master chef from the comfort of your home. At FoodCLUB, we aim to create a vibrant community where individuals can connect, inspire, and share their love for delicious, sustainable food. I am excited to share the beginning of this newsletter with you as we embark on a mission to uncover the latest news, highlight innovative companies, and delve into the stories behind the people driving change in the food industry.

What can you expect?

With each issue of The Sustainable Bite, you can expect to find a blend of curated news and events and engaging interview-like articles. Every week will provide an intimate look into the companies and individuals pushing the boundaries of sustainability in the food industry. We will cover many topics, including sustainable sourcing, circular economy models, plant-based innovations, regenerative agriculture and much more.

Why the Sustainable Bite?

A third of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions are created by the food industry (UN, 2023). Food prices have risen over 14% in the last year (UN, 2023). As of 2016, there were nearly 2 billion overweight people on Earth, and over 10% of adults are obese (WHO, 2021). The need for sustainable practices in the food industry has never been more pressing. We must rethink how we grow, produce, and consume our food. The Sustainable Bite aims to be a catalyst for this change by providing you with a reliable source of information, inspiration, and actionable insights that can help shape a greener food future.

Through this newsletter, we aspire to bridge the gap between industry professionals, academics and passionate food lovers like yourself with a quick read each week. By exploring the latest trends, sharing success stories, and conducting in-depth interviews with thought leaders and innovators, The Sustainable Bite aims to ignite conversations, foster collaboration, and encourage the adoption of sustainable practices at every level of the food industry.
